FSN, with nothing else to show, decides to assault my soul

December 10th, 2008.  The Fox Sports North braintrust had previously huddled together to determine their scheduling decisions for this fateful day.  The Timberwolves are playing, but that 45 channel has the rights, so that game is out.  The Wild aren't playing, so that idea is out.  So the malevolent despots decide to air a classic Twins game.  You may think that I would love to watch a classic Twins game, but in this particular case, you are sadly mistaken.  The problem is that Fox Sports North decided to air Santana's 17 strikeout performance against the Rangers in 2007.

This game IS undoubtedly a classic.  Unfortunately, it reminds me that I'm never going to see Johan pull off such a performance in a Twins uniform ever again.  This realization provokes the only natural response: the sound of ultimate suffering.

After my internal wailing has subsided, I can't help but recall the trade that sent Johan off to the Mets.  Of course, in return, we got: a great defensive center fielder who can't hit to save his life; two AAA pitchers who best case scenario turn into back end starters; a teenager with a ton of potential and absolutely no performance to back it up; a bellowing, hearty laugh from Omar Minaya and an equally large "fuck you."

Omar Minaya, seen here, offered to throw in this gesture at the last minute to put the trade over the top.

Billy Smith, the winter meetings are here, and we all hope you do something of high enough quality that people start calling you "Bill."
